Creating this painting was one of the peak experiences of my life. It was the first time I ever painted outdoors, on the beach in Hawaii. Cannot describe the feeling...hope you get it.
A peaceful day at the beach with a good friend, as I tired of painting a view to the left, I turned and painted what I saw , the historic Hanalei Pier. Just as I was looking for something to focus on, this wonderful orange canoe appeared.
The image of “Puff the Magic Dragon” played in my mind and as a song for years this was a magical day; as I painted, a bunch of local children gathered around. My first little fan club - too much fun!
A commission I did for a favorite client at Kona Village. They requested the Tiki, flowers, distant view of Kona Village and the friendly entrance to their familiar "hale" where they spend many peaceful days in Paradise. Original Sold
This "hale" embraces our feelings about relaxation, the hammock, the coconut trees, the crashing waves, and the Hawaiian sun warming us with it's bright rays.
